What is Detached Youth Work
Detached youth work is working with young people to support personal and social development. It is a method that builds up trust and respect with young people on their territory, i.e. where young people have chosen to be, on the streets, or in cafes or shopping centres.
On the street the worker is entering where young people feel more confident and the power relations are more equal. Contact happens on the street and relationships are developed there. The work is flexible and mobile and is proven in its effectiveness.
